Nielsen and Nielsen

I trained as an Industrial designer at Manchester Metropolitan University, as it is now called, and then worked in London for a several design studios. During this time I designed consumer products for international companies. The nature of this work meant that the process of design to manufacture often took several years.

On returning to Bristol I started designing and making furniture. The process of design to finished item is often only a few months.

My experiences provide me with the skills to understand the client's requirements and wishes and then to present them with solutions specific to them and their interiors.

Understanding and working to a budget and delivery period are important to achieve.

My work to date has covered a wide range of client requirements ranging from furniture, including tables, cabinets, kitchens, wardrobes and storage units for private customers. Also work for businesses, such as office furniture and screens, and reception desks. This has included clients such as the Architecture Centre in Bristol and The Children’s Hospital in Bristol and Bars for Royal Court Theatre. In addition I have provided the film industry with specially designed props and sets for Whirlwind Media, BBC and Aardman Animations.

When designing a piece of furniture I aim for elegant and restrained simplicity letting the richness of the materials be appreciated. Careful consideration of details are also important in my work.
